GROUNDHOG DAY

Well, my jet setters, today is February 2nd...Groundhog Day...the day when the infamous Punxsutawney Phil either sees his shadow or doesn't and we either get six more weeks of winter or we don't. Just in case you didn't hear the news...Phil "saw" his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter. BOO, Phil! I hate cold weather! Guess this just means we'll have to jet set somewhere warm within the next six weeks. My top suggestion for where to head this time of year is the town of Jose Ignacio in Uruguay. The beaches are absolutely beautiful...and it's still "undiscovered" enough that you will feel like you've discovered your own piece of heaven. We were there around this same time last year.My favorite thing to do besides hang out at the pool and beach all day was to sip Clerico (Uruguay's version of Sangria made with white wine) and relax.I would suggest jet setting there soon if you are interested, because funny enough, an article just came out about Jose Ignacio Beach in January's issue of Travel and Leisure Magazine, so you know what that means...it won't be long before it's "over-discovered" if you catch my drift!!!

HEALTHY WINTER VACATION FOR WOMEN

I was just flipping through the February issue of Ladies' Home Journal Magazine and saw an article that peaked my interest...How to Stay Fit- A Season Guide to Incredibly Fun Trips for the Active Female Traveler. For the Winter they suggest the following two trips:
1- Women's Ski Camp in Snowbird, Utah: Snowbird Resort runs two camps- one in January and another in March- that cater to intermediate-and-above skiers. Whether you want to gain confidence on the slopes or bump your skiing up a notch, you'll fit right in. And you'll feel less intimidated learning in small groups led by female instructors. They suggest staying at the Cliff Lodge right on the mountain. A ski-plus-lodging package which includes lunch and lift tickets runs about $1150 for a three-day camp and $1450 for a four-day camp.
2- Cross-Country Skiing in Banff, Alberta, Canada: Banff National Park gets loads of snow, has stunning views of the Canadian Rockies and, with a variety of easy and moderate trails, is a great location for a long weekend or cross-country skiing. They suggest sleeping at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge where rates start at $169 a night.

JET, SET, BEACH!

One of my favorite websites to shop from is Net-A-Porter. It's a luxury fashion retailer with super expensive stuff, but you can often find good sales. (That's only when I buy from them!) Net-A-Porter just sent me an email about Jet, Set, Beach!- saying there is great summer/beachwear in now if you are planning to jet set to a warm destination. The stuff at this point, in my opinion is too pricey to buy, but at least it's good for inspiration and to get an idea of "what's in" for this upcoming summer. I am loving the straw fedora, and the shape of the sunglasses is what all the stars are wearing these days. In fact, I think my mom owns a pair from the 60's that look just like that and I would always make fun of her for wearing them...how funny is that? I totally can hear her right now saying "I told you so!" :) Anyway, I thought the style was cute and the the email was adorably named...so I just wanted to share it with all of you jet setters! Are any of you jet setting somewhere warm this winter? Please do share.
