FASHION FRIDAY: MILITARY JACKET

I had been looking around for a military jacket as a transition piece into spring.  So when I saw this at J. Crew I knew I wanted it, and I was absolutely psyched to get it during their 40% sale!  This jacket is great to layer, and will be the perfect jacket to take with me on our upcoming trip to California!

WARDROBE WEDNESDAY: BLACK + WHITE + RED

In looking at a couple of my last outfit pictures, I am seeing a trend...black, white and a pop of red.  I just love that combination- I think it always works on anyone!  Spring will be here before we know it (I've already started adding new Spring things to my wardrobe), so I figure I might as well get in as much of my winter clothes now as I can!

FASHION FRIDAY: GO WILD!

Last weekend, we took the kids to a zoo we had never been to before (more coming up on that Monday, along with other fun kids activities, and where we ate).  Anyway, I contemplated whether or not I should wear this sweatshirt (part of me thinking it was cute and went with the theme, the other part of me wondering if the animals would want to chase me...haha)!  Well, I figured why not "go wild," and I went with it!  It was so cold that day, and since a lot of the animal exhibits are outside, I layered up with some accessories I picked up this winter, but haven't broken out yet.  What are you all up to this weekend?  Today is my son Brody's 1st birthday (sniff sniff)...can't believe he's one already, where does the time go?  Needless to say, we'll be partying it up for him this weekend!  Happy Friday jet setters!

WARDROBE WEDNESDAY: CASUAL SEQUINS

Hey Guys!  I got a few requests to post my outfit details from Monday's post about Porta so here it is for you!  I absolutely fell in love with the casual, yet dressy look of this top- a sweatshirt with bling for me = LOVE!  So I thought it was the perfect thing to wear to a Sunday brunch with the hubby and kids.  I paired it with jeans, snow boots (thanks to Mother Nature's blast of snow), a hat and a little pink clutch which I think ties in the pink in the hat and the top.  Happy hump day everyone!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year jet setters!  I hope you all had a fun and safe New Year's with your loved ones whether you jet setted or stayed home.  We're back home from a family vacation up to Lake George, New York in the Adirondacks where we went to ring in 2014.  We had an awesome time staying at The Sagamore Resort, and took the opportunity while we were up that far north to check out a few, very cool towns including Hudson, Saratoga Springs (where I actually went to college), Lake George, Bolton Landing and Gore Mountain.  I'll have much more on the trip coming up soon, but I have a ton of settling back-in to do with two kiddos.  In the meantime, here's some outfit pics from what I wore the day we left for the trip.  Hope you enjoy!

FASHION FRIDAY: CAMO

When camouflage came back in style this fall, I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to get on board with it- I don't think it's a style that looks good on everyone- me included!  But, when I saw this vest at Forever 21, I completely changed my mind.  I love the non-traditional black and white color of it, plus it is heavy and warm and of a really good quality.  I often layer it under my winter coat when I walk the dog on cold days and it really helps to keep me toasty!  Here, I put it over a dress that I bought when I traveled to Iceland (read more about that here) and thought that the bag and necklace really helped pull it all together.  By the way, when we took these pictures it was starting to snow (hence the white stuff in my hair- it's not dandruff- lol! :-)

FASHION FRIDAY: PREPPY SCHOOLGIRL

Happy Friday Jet Setters!  I'm so excited for the weekend, as we are planning to go and cut down a tree and decorate for Christmas with the boys!  Something I'll probably wear this weekend...the below outfit.  That's because leggings, comfy tunics and glasses are all my "go-to" pieces in my wardrobe both for everyday and especially for travel!  Looking at this outfit, I feel very "Preppy Schoolgirl," but as a youngish mom of two, this is an easy look that is comfortable and makes me feel good.  That is why when I found this tunic/dress at J. Crew Factory recently, I knew I had to have it.  Here I paired it with leggings, a denim shirt, boots and a maroon scarf (one of my favorite Fall 2013 colors).  But, I also plan to wear it with tights and heels for a more dressy look, and maybe belted with a blazer too.

WARDROBE WEDNESDAY: THE WILD FACTOR

I just love leopard print anything...shoes, scarves, hats, shirts, skirts, tops, coats, vests....yup, love it all!  To me leopard is a neutral and can be matched with a lot- both solids and other prints.  I found this dress on the clearance rack at Target recently and figured for $12.48 it was a least worth a trip to the fitting room.  Well I'm sure glad I tried it on because as you can see was a keeper!

ACCESSORIZING FOR TEMPLE GOURMET

After growing up in New York City, I am always hard-pressed to find good bagels, good pizza and good Chinese food.  Sorry if any of you guys disagree, but I just think the Big Apple does these things right.  Well, I have to say that I found a Chinese restaurant- in NEW JERSEY- that serves some of the BEST Chinese food on the other side of the George Washington Bridge...Temple Gourmet Chinese Restaurant in Red Bank, New Jersey!
This BYOB, located on Broad Street, serves killer dumplings, ribs, and mu-shu pork.  We've also tried their chicken imperial (like a General Tso's), sesame chicken and beef and broccoli which were all tasty as well.  The ambiance is a little more upscale, but thankfully the prices are not.  Service is also great.  We've been there twice already, and I'm sure we'll back back again soon!

Here is what I wore to Temple Gourmet Chinese Restaurant...I am a big fan of accessories!  I love everything from jewelry to scarves, belts, and hats...you name it- because I think they can add that extra bit of pop to an otherwise dull outfit.  Here are some of my latest accessory purchases (all under $20 each) that I feel my wardrobe was just lacking- a black floppy hat, a faux fur scarf, and a leopard-print belt.  I was just wearing jeans a black top to lunch, but with these extra accessories, I think the outfit looks a little more finished!
