FALL IN LOVE WITH D.C.

This October, we made a long weekend trip to Washington D.C. We've been there before for New Years (read more about that trip here), and in the spring to see the Cherry Blossoms, but by far, fall was my favorite time of year to visit!  The leaves were changing and the weather was mild and perfect for touring the city. We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (thanks to hubby's company getting us a corporate rate we only paid $160 a night for a $600 a night room- now that's what I call a Jet Set deal!)... and as you can imagine the stay was perfect! The hotel is beyond beautiful with top notch service, and Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay of Food Network was staying there as well so Rich got to snap a picture with him! All in all, it was a great trip...we ate a lot of yummy food, checked out the monuments and some museums (all free to do by the way- again, that's what I call a Jet Set deal!), and made fun family memories that will last a lifetime!
Let Jet Set Smart help you plan your trip to D.C. so you too can fall in love with this awesome city!

HARD TO BELIEVE SUMMER IS OVER

It's hard to believe that the heart of summer is now over! :(  We've had a lot going on this year, and so there was no jet setting this summer.  Instead, we spent a lot of time doing fun things in New York City and down at the Jersey Shore.  I've realized in my years of jet setting, that you don't always need to get on a jet to have a great time.  Here's a peak into some of the fun things we did in May and June.
How did you jet setters spend your summer?

AUSTIN PICTURE RECAP

At the end of April, we took a little family vacation to Austin, Texas. Rich had to go for work, and since we have good friends who live in Dallas who had a baby girl we hadn't yet met (and they said they'd meet us in Austin), we thought it would be fun to all make the trip.
We chowed down on some amazing Mexican, some finger-licking barbecue and even some gourmet Japanese (at a restaurant owned by Bravo T.V.'s latest Top Chef Paul Qui). The capital of Texas is a great food city that is also known for its food trucks (which are almost on every corner!!!)  It was exciting to jet set to a new destination, and I certainly have plenty of blogging catching up to do.
But, in the meantime, here's a little Austin Picture Recap to browse through this weekend.

BENEFITS OF LIVING BY THE BEACH

Walks on the boards at night, hanging out on an empty beach in the middle of the afternoon, and dinner at a Shore Legend- Pete & Elda's...it's thin-crust perfection, pure and simple (even Richie loved it).  Nowadays, "Life's a Beach," and that's awesome!!!
