BEACHY FAMILY

Yesterday felt like summer at the Shore!  In fact, at one point my car said 86*!!!  Not sure if that was accurate or not, but it felt quite hot to me.  We really love the Jersey Shore, and spend as much time as we can at the beach- in the spring, summer, fall and even in the winter!  That is why when I saw the forecast yesterday, I suggested we take some beachy family pictures.  We went to Old Navy to pick up some white oxford buttoned down shirts for the boys, and I grabbed this white eyelet maxi dress- they have great stuff for spring, and the prices are so affordable!  I know I will be living in this dress this summer at the beach, pool, and even for a date night with some wedges.  I also love these gladiator sandals that I picked up recently at Target- they are comfy and look like they are well made. The boys wore jeans, and so I threw on a jean jacket.  It's a good thing I did throw on the jacket because we waited for the sun to start setting before we went to take the pictures, and by the time we got onto the beach, it was windy and freezing!!!  We didn't last long with a three year old and a one year old, but we did manage to snap a few that I just love.  Hope you all had a great weekend, and got out to enjoy the beautiful weather!

FASHION FRIDAY: CHECK

I've had this checkered jacket in my closet for a couple of years now from one of my favorite New Jersey boutiques called Nirvana.  I just love how it's the perfect piece to throw on as either a coat or even to layer under a coat for the really cold winter days.  We took these pictures a couple of weekends ago when we went to check out the beach to see how things were going in the "off season"...amazingly, despite the cold, it was pretty busy!  I love the beach in any kind of weather- it just feels so good to see sand and hear waves crash.  Happy Friday jet setters...have a great weekend!

WHAT'S OLD IS ALWAYS NEW

I've written about Old San Juan, Puerto Rico many times before on this blog.  Not only do I love it because my family is from there and I grew up vacationing there, but also because of its proximity to New York, its beautiful Caribbean waters, and its rich culture and delicious food!  So you can imagine my excitement when I saw an article in my December/January issue of Coastal Living magazine raving about Old San Juan, Puerto Rico as the perfect waterfront weekend spot!  They even compare the beautiful, tiny island to having the charm of Cordoba, Spain, yet much closer and with blue water surrounding you.  Here are their suggestions of what to do and where to stay when you visit...some I've been to (Hotel El Convento, Isla Verde Beach and Old San Juan), and some will be on my list of places to visit next time I'm there!
STAY: Hotel El Convento
SIP: Coffee with steamed milk at Cafe Cuatro Sombras
SHOP: Ole Boutique in Old San Juan
PLAY: Isla Verde Beach
DINE: Aquaviva- a restaurant serving modern Latino-Caribbean fusion cuisine
